If you have the resources that allow you to take vacations too far off locations around the world, then you don’t have much to complain about. One pitfall that is hard to avoid though is neck pain due to being cramped in an airplane for many hours at a time. A small price to pay in comparison to the fun you’ll have once you arrive to your destination, but still something you want to relieve as soon as possible.
What Causes Neck Pain?
You probably could have figured this one out yourself but just in case you are wondering. It really comes down to your posture. Due to smart phone addiction through out the whole world, million of people have developed very poor posture which has their neck and traps in a constant strain which results in soreness and pain. Add that to a cramped seat on an airplane that does not recline more that a few inches and you have a recipe for debilitating neck pain.
How to Relieve Neck Pain?
Fortunately there are several forms of neck pain relief that I’d like to share. The first is a step by step guide you can do at home or while traveling. The video below by Best Spine Care clearly explains how remove the tension from your neck tendons using just a towel and a brown stick. Make sure to be gentle when first trying these techniques as there is the possibility of making things worse if you are too rigid.
PRP Treament to Strengthen and Relive Neck Pain
If you are new to the term PRP it stands for (platelet-rich plasma) which is a process that involves a doctor taking samples of your blood and then spinning it at a high rate of speed to isolate the platelets and then injecting that platelet-rich plasma blood back into the problem area to rebuild stronger tissue.
It’s important to know that PRP should be used if you have regular chronic pain. If you travel on long international flights on a regular basis then this could be you.
Depending on where you live you will most likely find several PRP treatment options. I live in Orlando and have found a great medical spa call Health & Hope Institute owned by Dr. Claudia Chica. She has been practicing PRP and Ozone therapy for over 10 years and has many returning patients for good reason. I have been to her 3 times over the last year and every time my neck pain keeps getting better and better. She focuses on the importance of correct posture and rest after treatment as the platelet-rich plasma needs time to work it’s magic in your muscle tissue to make it stronger. She also offers a wide range of oriental medicine and manual therapies including acupuncture and brain therapy.
The video below is from a young weight lifter named Tori who suffered a neck injury from an over chiropractic adjustment which left her in extreme pain and unable to walk. After her first treatment from Dr. Chica she was able to walk again and eventually went back to weight lifting at her highest performance level. In Tori’s own words “This is the best thing I’ve ever found”.
